This action has trouble with returning data if I use too many selectors.

Works: .tabs a
Doesn't work: .main-column .tabs li a

HTML structure that shows in the Elements tab verifies the DOM el matches.

More broadly, I've always had trouble with getting multiple levels of selectors working.
