Why does it take 8 seconds to create wgpu::Instance?

Strange things started happening after updating wgpu to 0.13.1, and specifically instance creation time has increased significantly.

wgpu shouldn't be doing much work on the wgpu side during instance creation, so most of the time this is spent in the Vulkan or OpenGL driver. In general it can take a while for Vulkan or OpenGL drivers to start, but 8 seconds sounds very high. Looking at your logs, it sounds like most of the time is probably spent in the Vulkan driver.

Would you be able to dig into this to try:

• creating a detailed profile so we can see where the time is spent
• making sure that your Vulkan and OpenGL drivers are updated to the latest version
• try enabling single backends (e.g. wgpu::Backends::GL) to check if this is limited to one backend

had same problem. some package put some nvidia junk in /usr/share/vulkan/icd.d. deleting nvidia.json (my laptop doesn't have a nvidia gpu, wtf) fixed the issue
